Martin McColl is rolling out a new format for its McColl’s convenience stores.

The 600 McColl’s stores in the retailer’s estate are to be given a brighter, more modern feel, with an improved layout and enhanced offer.

The stores would improve the shopping experience for consumers, said Martin McColl, adding that it would be continually reviewing product ranges and promotions, introducing more value products and improving access to other services such as Collect+ and PayPoint.

The first store to receive the treatment was a McColl’s in Great Cornard, Suffolk.

“We have ambitious growth plans to serve our customers in local neighbourhoods through the development of our UK convenience estate,” said Martin McColl CEO James Lancaster. “We firmly believe that developing each new store on a case-by-case basis allows us to engage successfully with each local community.”

Martin McColl, which has an estate of 1,263 c-stores and CTNs, has acquired 37 c-stores in the past year and converted a further 36 from its CTN format Martin’s to McColl’s.
