Budgens is rolling out a new EPoS system from PCMS across its estate as the first part of an IT overhaul aimed at reducing running costs and improving instore processes.
The new Java-Beanstore system should be installed across the estate by next March, said Budgens IT director Mark Trevorrow.
“The system is far more user-friendly than the old one and means staff won’t have to spend as much time in the back office.”
The next phase of the programme would probably involve a move towards automated replenishment with a suggested ordering system, he added. “This is obviously preferable as we deal with more franchisees. But the move is probably 18 months away.”
Change management specialist First Friday will be working with Budgens staff to help manage the switch to the new systems.
