One Stop’s purchase of Alfred Jones will be completed by January 2014

The Alfred Jones convenience stores acquired by One Stop will be converted by January 2014, One Stop has confirmed.

The Tesco-owned c-store chain snapped up 33 of the independent Spar operator’s 70 stores in July this year.

Following a probe by the Office of Fair Trading over possible competition concerns, the deal was approved on 18 September.

“This deal illustrates our continued investment in the business to deliver our growth strategy and follows the opening of our third distribution centre in Wakefield earlier this year,” said One Stop CEO Tony Reed.

“These are exciting times for One Stop and we look forward to maintaining this momentum into next year and beyond, with the strong plans for growth we have in place,” he added.
