Dalton Philips will this week outline his vision of the future for Morrisons.

The former Loblaw executive (pictured) will make his first public comments on the supermarket’s strategy on Thursday, when Morrisons unveils its first-half results. A move into online retailing is likely to be high on the agenda for the man who replaced Marc Bolland in March.

The supermarket is on the hunt for a strategy director to spearhead its expansion into new business areas, according to the Financial Times.

Whoever fills the new post will be expected to work alongside finance chief Richard Pennycook and new commercial director Richard Hodgson, who recently joined from Waitrose.

Morrisons is expected to announce a rise in like-for-like sales of around 1% for the previous six months.
