Warehouse workers at a Sainsbury’s distribution centre in Merseyside have voted to accept a pay offer, bringing an end to a month’s industrial action at the site.

The new pay rate of £7.50 per hour is to be linked to improved productivity at the centre. Under the terms of the offer, a mechanism would also be put in place to allow for further increases, should productivity continue to improve.

The result of a ballot of the 750 workers at the centre in Haydock, was 426 in favour of the pay offer with 218 against.
