Somerfield is to unveil full details of its franchise package at the Convenience Retailing Show at the NEC, Birmingham, from March 14 to 17.
Somerfield’s business director for franchise, Norman Kears, has been developing the package since he joined the company from Budgens on October 3 last year. Somerfield has been testing the venture in a partnership with TM Retail.
The franchise package offers Somerfield the opportunity to increase its penetration in the c-store sector and raise greater brand awareness, said Kears.
Franchisees benefit from a combination of its fresh food offer, own-label lines, national distribution up to six days a week and the opportunity to trade under a strong brand name. Franchisees must be independent professional retailers who want to invest in and develop their business, said Kears. The minimum franchise store size is 1,500sq ft and stores must have the potential to turn over at least £25,000-£35,000 a week.
CRS 2004 will run alongside three other major food and drink industry fairs - Food and Drink Expo 2004, which is sponsored by The Grocer, Food & Bake and Foodex Meatex.
