Silcock returned to Asda to work in the BWS and snacking supply chain after travelling round the world for a year. He originally joined Asda as a trading assistant after graduating from UMIST in 1997.
“I love my job,” said Silcock, who has been a buyer for 15 months. “It’s intensive, but it keeps the mind active and there’s a really good buzz in the department. I really enjoy seeing the sales coming in and negotiating with suppliers is also one of my highlights.
“It’s great to pit yourself against manufacturers, while working together to create strategies that will deliver for consumers as well as suppliers.”

Burch has been working for Superdrug for 10 months as buyer for washing and bathing, men’s toiletries, shaving and deodorants. Previously, she was at Safeway and before that at Sainsbury. She said she loved being back at Superdrug, where she started her buying career a decade ago.

Campbell has been working in Tesco’s health and beauty buying team for three years and is responsible for skincare, colourants, professional hair care and travel. She joined Tesco in 1999 in the non-food seasonal department where she worked as a technical manager.

Jordan joined Wilkinson nine years ago and has concentrated on developing the health and beauty category for the high street chain. Wilkinson said he had been instrumental in helping to grow the category four-fold over eight years. He had previously worked as a buying controller at Poundstretcher.Nigel Sharp

Sharp began his retail career with his family’s business, but moved on to Waitrose when he was 20. He worked in-store for 11 years and has been a buyer in grocery and non-food for 16 years. He has spent time, inter alia, in snacks, cereals, soft drinks, fruit juice and men’s toiletries.
