Work has finished on the UK's largest building - Tesco's new eco-friendly RDC in Livingston, Scotland.

The 73,000 sq m construction outsizes Heathrow Airport's new Terminal 5, previously the country's biggest free-standing building.

The development includes rainwater harvesting and waste heat recovery technology, which is expected to save the retailer more than £17,000 a year.

Contractor Birchall said the RDC, which will serve central Scotland, would act as a test bed for green technology. A year in construction, it also contains an ambient store the size of ten full-size football pitches.
