Morrisons' relatively compact 20,000 sq ft store in Warminster, Wiltshire won our award this time last year.

Since then, manager John Volney has moved on to the company's much larger store in Weymouth, Dorset. The Weymouth deputy manager, Howard Stacey, made the return trip and is now in charge of the Warminster store. Stacey is enthusiastic about his first job as a store manager. He says trading has grown strongly at Warminster, with weekly footfall up by almost 5%, to 22,000.

Turnover has risen even higher, Stacey reports, with particularly strong demand for Morrisons' Market Street fresh products and its newly expanded The Best own label ranges.
