Somerfield has appointed new group property and HR directors in a tranche of changes which include the appointment of a marketing director for Scotland. Gordon Wotherspoon becomes group property director and company director, replacing Terry Atkinson who left this week. Katie Peters has been promoted from group training and development director, taking over from HR director Kathryn Brown. Wotherspoon was md property and development at Safeway, on the board from 1986 until 2000. He currently holds three non-executive directorships. He joined the Somerfield board this week, but he will not be full-time until January. Executive chairman John von Spreckelsen said: "His enormous experience of managing complex retail property portfolios will be a significant factor in the continuing drive to grow the Somerfield and Kwik Save business." And a new marketing manager for Scotland will raise the profile of 55 Scottish stores. Gerry Tait spent 10 years as a Somerfield store manager throughout the Scottish region. He said: "I'm looking forward to ploughing all this experience into the local markets and products to give Scottish customers the chance to buy genuine local goods and continue to improve the competitiveness of our promotional prices." {{PEOPLE MOVES }}
