Scotland’s oldest independent brewery, Belhaven, has ditched the tartan for a saltire design on its new range of speciality beers.

The company, which is owned by Greene King, said that the contemporary look avoided the “easy clichés of Scottishness” and would appeal to younger drinkers driving the rise of craft beer.

The five-strong range comprises a revamped Twisted Thistle IPA, alongside four new beers.
