Customers can also have their pre-ordered beverages served to their table in a Costa Coffee shop

Costa Coffee has rolled out a mobile ordering service to 500 branches nationwide following a trial.

The London-based trial, which started in December 2018, has seen 111 coffee shops offer customers the option of pre-ordering hot or cold drinks using the Costa Coffee Club app.

The app can find the nearest participating Costa branch and take payment from a card registered to the user’s account.

It saves time queueing at the counter, according to Costa, thanks to separate collection points for mobile orders.

Before customers confirm the order, the app provides an estimate of how long it will take for it to be ready for collection, typically five to eight minutes.

“We have seen such an incredible response for our mobile ordering service since its launch in London last year, with coffee lovers embracing the simple and easy Costa app to enhance their Costa Coffee experience,” said Costa Coffee global digital and loyalty director Arslan Sharif.

“The development of mobile ordering and other digital innovations have enabled us to expand this service to over 500 stores nationwide. The customer experience is at the heart of everything we do, and we’re delighted to introduce a service that makes it really convenient for everyone to access the nation’s favourite great-tasting coffee when on the go.”
