The Today's Group, the wholesale arm of Nisa-Today's, has redesigned its store fascia and introduced convenience store and larger store formats.

The group hopes the relaunch will help double the number of Today's stores over the next year.

The new Today's Local fascia for c-stores has a light background with red lettering while the Extra fascia for larger stores has a red background with light lettering. The fascias, which can be used by members of its retail club, will operate under the strapline 'What a difference Today's make'.

The first of the stores to carry the rebranded Today's fascia have been opened in Northern Ireland by retailers supplied by wholesaler Savage & Whitten.

"The stores are fantastic ambassadors for our new generation fascias," said Today's Group managing director Bill Laird. "The development of Today's Extra and Local are key elements of our future retail strategy. We have already been contacted by many members about the new look who are interested in becoming part of our retail club."

Meanwhile, the retail arm of Nisa-Today's said 125 stores had adopted its Store of the Future fascia since its launch a year ago. The white fascia, which also has Local and Extra formats, had proved popular with independents, said John Heagney, Nisa's symbol group director.

The new fascia was attracting new retailers to the group, said Heagney, who expected the number of Nisa-branded stores to rise from the current 618 to 1,000 by 2012. "The old blue stores were a bit tired, but the new look has been well received by members and shoppers," he said.
