Cott Developments – a subsidiary of own-label soft drinks producer Cott Beverages – is to buy Calypso Soft Drinks and Mr Freeze.
Cott has today signed an agreement to acquire privately owned Cooke Bros Holdings, owner of the two brands.
Wrexham-based Cooke is a £35m business with a strong presence in foodservice, and sells products including branded children’s soft drinks produced using its own source of natural mineral water.
“This acquisition falls within the diversification strategy of Cott Beverages as it brings new soft drink packaging formats such as single-serve cups and cuplets and two freezeable formats into the Cott portfolio,” said Cott Beverages director Steve Corby.
“Calypso Soft Drinks has been highly successful in providing its customers with quality and innovation. We look forward to building on the solid foundation already established.”
The deal would provide additional opportunities for Calypso employees and customers, said Calypso Soft Drinks CEO Peter Cooke.
Completion of the deal is subject to customary conditions including OFT clearance and is expected to close in June 2013.
