Müller has completed its acquisition of the Cadbury desserts factory from Greencore.

The deal for the site in Minsterley, Shropshire, was first announced back in June, when Müller said it was keen to expand its footprint in the chilled desserts category. The company had already been marketing Cadbury desserts – such as Mousse, Trifle and twin-pot products – under licence for some time, and said it was hoping to gain greater efficiencies by producing them as well.

Financial details of the deals were not disclosed.

Müller UK & Ireland Group CEO Ronald Kers said completing the Minsterley acquisition was a great way for Müller to kick off 2013.

“Müller has the leading position in the UK desserts sector and this acquisition gives us the opportunity to further develop Cadbury’s brand presence as part of our portfolio, and bring affordable luxury to the category,” he added. “We are excited about our plans for the Minsterley site and very much look forward to working with our new colleagues in driving the business forward throughout 2013 and beyond.”

In addition to Minsterley, Müller made headlines in 2012 by acquiring liquid milk specialist Robert Wiseman Dairies in a £280m deal. The company has since unveiled a new, joint logo and branding identity for the Wiseman business, which now operates under the name Müller Wiseman Dairies.
