US brewing giant Anheuser-Busch has decided to withdraw Bud Light from the UK after drinkers spurned the low calorie alternative to the brewer's best selling Budweiser brand. The current market leader in the light beer sector, Bud Light took the US by storm following its 1998 launch. But the brewer's European MD Andrew Day admitted: "Consumer attitudes to lighter beers did not move as quickly as we anticipated in the UK. "Consequently, fewer consumers than expected have adopted Bud Light within their drinking repertoire." However, he did not rule out a return to the UK in the future. UK production of the beer ceased in December. {{NEWS }}
