Alcohol-free wine brand Eisberg and the British Liver Trust are calling on the government to increase investment in early diagnosis of liver damage.

If caught early enough, damage can often be reversed and the British Liver Trust has estimated the move would save the NHS £600m every year.

Suggested changes include greater focus on GPs interviewing patients about their alcohol intake, alongside early liver checks for anyone at risk of the disease.

Morrisons, Eisberg and the British Liver Trust are currently running a post-Christmas health push that includes pop-up health clinics offering free health advice and non-invasive liver tests.
