According to Pritt producer Henkel, the glue stick category is worth more than £13m and in 2010 just under 25% of that was driven through the two months of back to school (August and September).

"Pritt is also shouting its sustainability message this year with the Stick Up For Trees campaign, getting kids involved in the environment and planting trees for charity," says Baptiste Chièze, category management director for Henkel Consumer Adhesives. BiC Kids range (BiC)

The BiC Kids range includes colouring pencils, felt tips and plastic crayons. The pens can be left uncapped for up to three months without drying out, and can be washed from school uniforms, according to BiC.

Tesco's new gingham school dresses with matching scrunchie come in blue, green, yellow or red. Machine washable, the 85% polyester, 15% viscose mix dresses have short sleeves and a tie belt at the back. They are available for girls from three to 11 years of age. With or without pleats, the dresses have an rsp of £3.50 to £4.50.

Canon's latest school calculator, retailing at £15.99, is both antibacterial and recycled, and available in black, pink and blue. The product has both a solar power source and a replaceable battery, and boasts 264 functions and features. The upper and lower hard cases and battery cover are made from Canon Copiers recycled material.
