Applegreen petrogas

Applegreen has apologised to motorists who unknowingly topped up their vehicles with the wrong fuel at one of its petrol stations after it mixed up the diesel and unleaded pumps when refilling them.

The blunder at the Irish forecourt operator’s Bridgend filling station in Wales last Tuesday is leaving some customers with huge repair bills.

The company said it would reimburse customers’ costs.

Parts of the station were closed for more than 24 hours while the affected tanks were cleaned out and refilled.

Applegreen said the fuel mix-up occurred when the delivery driver “in error” put the wrong fuel into the wrong underground tanks.

“We would like to apologise to our customers over this unfortunate event and are asking all affected customers to either contact the store directly or email customerservice@applegreenstores.co.uk where each individual case will be dealt with,” said Applegreen managing director John Diviney.
