Public health minister Dawn Primarolo has praised the industry for encouraging healthy eating - just days after Cadbury became the first food and drink sponsor for the London 2012 Olympics.

Speaking at a summit in London this week, Primarolo praised companies including Unilever and United Biscuits for their work on cutting saturated fats from products.

"There are many others I could mention," she said. Tesco and Disney also received a nod for teaming up to promote fresh fruit, juices, cereals and yoghurts.

However, Primarolo called for the industry to take decisive action on saturated fat levels and product marketing and to reduce sugar content.

"We are pleased the minister recognises the vital role to be played by our sector," said Julian Hunt, FDF director of communications.
