Newcastle Brown Ale fans can now taste their favourite tipple in a plate of bangers.

Already famed for their sausages, Yorkshire farmers Debbie and Andrew Keeble have brought out a range with the Tyneside brew added to the recipe, thanks to a licensing deal with brand owner Scottish & Newcastle.

Debbie and Andrew's Pork and Ale Sausages with Newcastle Brown are now on sale at £1.99 for a pack of six at 38 Morrisons stores in the north east.

"If sales are good enough, we hope to roll out all over the UK," said Andrew.

The couple's decision to join forces with the popular beer brand coincides with the ale's 80th anniversary.

Debbie said: "We tried lots of different beers but Newcastle Brown came out top. The hops give a rich, dark taste that works well with the pork and seasoning, and the ale keeps the meat really moist."

The preparation process means the sausages contain only traces of alcohol when cooked.
