Allied Bakeries has reported further suspected malicious tampering at its Kingsmill bread bakery in Orpington, Kent.

Incidents of suspected tampering have dogged the site for 18 months, with sewing needles, glass and chewing gum found in packs of Kingsmill bread.

The latest incidents emerged after customers discovered foreign objects in loaves of Kingsmill sliced bread, the Food Standards Agency said in a statement.

In one incident, pieces of glass were reported to be found inside the packaging and not embedded in the bread, it added.
