Demonstrating that every cloud has a silver lining, Tesco has won an award for its response to the horsemeat scandal.
It has won the Best Crisis Management category in CorpComms magazine’s 2013 awards.
The judges said Tesco had given a strong response when the crisis hit in January. “Tesco showed grace under fire. It was clear on its objectives and it delivered.”
The effectiveness of Tesco’s crisis management was demonstrated through a 1,000-strong customer survey carried out in February.
Seventy four per cent had heard about its response to the scandal, compared with less than half for its competitors. Sixty-eight per cent felt it had responded quickly.
