Italian wine brand Marc Xero is being promoted with an extensive sampling and advertising campaign.
International Wine Services is building on its previous sampling drive at Toni & Guy hair salons with ads in women's glossy magazines.
Consumer sampling is also underway at train stations in London and Leeds which will be followed by Saturday tastings in Tesco stores.

Elderflower brew
Young's brewers has launched an elderflower beer. Elysium, named after the land of the blessed in classical mythology, is brewed to 4% abv with elderflowers. It is being sold in 500ml in Sainsbury at a special launch price of four bottles for £5.

exclusive bottle
Waitrose has signed an exclusive deal with Adnams brewers to stock a new varietal wine from Portugal.
Trincadeira is from the Alentejo region and is described by Waitrose Portuguese wine buyer Nick Room as similar in style to Australian wines because of its soft fruity taste. The wine is priced at £6.99 a bottle.

A bigger beastie
Inver House Distillers has purchased PPS producer Wee Beastie. The deal means the spirits firm can extend its portfolio of PPS drinks, which currently includes Kulov Ice Lite.
The company, which also manufactures Heather cream liqueur, intends to build on the Wee Beastie brand, which is stocked in several multiples.

new sparklers
McGuigan Wines from Australia's Hunter Valley has introduced two new sparkling wines to its Black Label range.
A chardonnay and a shiraz will join the portfolio priced at £6.99 and are available to the independent sector through Vinoceros.
