Sainsbury's has been hit by a problem with its mushroom supplies over the past ten days, leading to 'out of stock' messages at stores across the country.
A spokeswoman said: "There has been a supplier problem caused by weather in different ways. The heat in July reduced yields and now the cold has created higher than usual demand."
The problem should be under control by the weekend, she added, and future problems easier to manage.
