Oatcake brand Nairn’s has secured a national listing for its lower-sugar kids’ biscuits.

Nairn’s Astro Bites - mini biscuits with wholegrain oats and fruit that come in six space-themed shapes - will be stocked in 250 Waitroses from September after rolling into 38 Scottish Asdas in June (rsp: £1.59/5x23g minibags). Currently available in Berry Blast, other variants will be added.

Astro Bites contain 17.4g of sugar per 100g, according to Nairns, which claimed the industry average was 32.2g.

The move, part of a strategy to develop on-the-go snacks, follows the launch of breakfast Muesli Breaks and relaunch of Oaty Bakes snacks as Snackers.
