Prestige Champagne Dom Pérignon has ditched its traditional green and gold livery in honour of the release of the final vintage from the 20th century.

For the 1999 vintage only, the Champagne will be packaged in matt black and silver, an "elegant and modern look". It will also come for the first time in a vertical box by designer Neville Brody.

The wine is said to be complex with notes of angelica, coconut and cinnamon. "On the palate it is earthy, smoky and pearly, underscored by the vibrant warmth of peppery spice." said Chef de Cave Richard Geoffroy.

Dom Pérignon 1999 will retail for around £85.
