The drinks are made with traditional gin botanicals such as juniper and coriander seed

Dalston’s Soda is moving into low & no alcohol drinks with a duo of alcohol-free gin & tonic RTDs.

It has launched two flavours – Classic and Rhubarb – which are made with a blend of distilled botanicals such as juniper, coriander seed and lemon balm.

They contain no artificial sweeteners and weigh in at 50 calories per 250ml can.

They will roll out into Amazon, Sourced Market and independent retailers from January, with a listing with “a national retailer” to follow in March.

The NPD was “lifting the social pressures to booze on a night out”, said Dalston’s founder Duncan O’Brien. We went through at least 20 rounds of testing before landing on a recipe that we believe tastes just like a classic gin & tonic.

It comes as sales of non-alcoholic spirits have surged over the past year, rising 194%, and a deluge of new brands are hitting the market [Nielsen 52 w/e 30 September 2019].

William Reed – the publisher of The Grocer – has launched a new trade show exclusively for the low and no alcohol drinks sector. For more info visit www.low2nobev.com
