The range focuses on eight key mantras: immunity, digestion, energy, respiration, skin glow, women’s wellness and elderly health

Frozen ready meal startup Eight Food has expanded its range of gluten and dairy-free meals with a new trio.

The meals are billed as being “power packed” with “umpteen vitamins, minerals and other naturally-fortified ingredients such as chicken livers and flax seeds”.

They are: Coconut Chickpea Curry and Sri Lankan Dahl, both of which launched last week, and Comforting Cottage Pie, which launched today (18 May).

The range is packed in two portion sizes – 350g (rsp: from £6.25) and 700g (rsp: from £12.50) – and is gluten-free, with all but the fish pie being dairy-free.

The meals were aimed at parents and kids, with much of the current customer base being elderly people who were “hungry for easy-to-prepare, top-tasting, healthy meals within easy reach with minimum fuss”, said Eight Food.

They join the existing line-up of Lentil Shepherd’s Pie, Super Fish Cakes, Sausage Hot Pot, Persian Chicken, Chilli Con Carne, Moroccan Lamb Tagine, Fabulous Fish Pie and No Ordinary Lasagne.

The business was founded in February by three women: Hattie Mauleverer, founder of award-winning catering business TopHat; Georgie Sokin, a Leith’s-trained chef; and nutritionist Jo Saunders.

It uses the tagline ‘you are what you eight’, which refers to their combined total of eight children, as well as eight key mantras: immunity, digestion, energy levels, respiration, skin glow, women’s wellness and elderly health.
