The treats each contain a layer of fruit compote topped with cheesecake and a biscuit topping

Gü is looking to lure health-conscious shoppers with its first lower-calorie dessert range.

The Gü Light range comprises four puds, billed as being inspired by the brand’s full-sugar range of cheesecakes.

They are each made up of a fruit compote layer topped with cheesecake and “sprinkled” with a biscuit topping.

The puds had a “higher percentage of the finest fruit ingredients” and were “still indulgent to taste, but with less calories” said Gü.

The range will launch with four flavours – Mango, Mandarin & Passionfruit; Strawberry & Vanilla; Blackcurrant & Raspberry; and Lemon & Blueberry – which Gü had chosen “based on consumer feedback”.

They contain less than 160 calories per pot, compared to between 261 and 362 calories per pot in its existing cheesecake range.

They will hit the big four and Waitrose from 23 March (rsp: £3.30/2x77g), packaged in Gü’s glass ramekins and in “fully recyclable” packaging.

Gü said the range would meet the needs of shoppers who want a dessert that is “healthier” and “great tasting”.

“There isn’t anything like Gü Light in the market currently,” it added.
