The wines were last available in 2015

Pernod Ricard has re-introduced its lighter ‘Flight’ range of wines for Brancott Estate.

The wines come in at 9% abv and are billed as containing 20% less calories compared with typical wines of the same varietal.

Their low alcohol content is achieved by using grapes harvested earlier in the season when sugar levels are naturally lower.

The first wine in the range, a Malborough Sauvignon Blanc, hits Sainsbury’s in July (rsp: £9.50/750ml).

It was “expressive, bright and fresh”, said Pernod Ricard, with “balanced natural acidity”.

The range was last available in the UK in 2015, when the low and non-alcoholic drinks trend was yet to kick in.

“With consumption habits changing, and the no and low alcohol category now predicted to outperform Total Spirits growth over the next four years , it is re-entering the market at a crucial time as consumer demand continues to accelerate,” Pernod added.
