The launches were designed to “help retailers meet increased demand for products that cater to health and lifestyle choices”, said the brand.

Premier Foods is hoping to tap vegans and health-conscious shoppers with a quartet of new sauces for its Loyd Grossman and Sharwood’s brands.

It has added a duo of No Added Sugar lasagne sauces - one tomato and one white - to its Loyd Grossman lineup (rsp: £2.09/440g-450g), and a duo of ‘Deliciously Vegan’ Tikka Masala and Korma sauces to Sharwood’s (£1.79/420g).

The white lasagne sauce is billed as containing 30% less fat than its standard counterpart.

The launches were designed to “help retailers meet increased demand for products that cater to health and lifestyle choices”, said the brand.

Premier Foods was “proud to lead the way for some time now in helping consumers reduce fat and sugar in their diets when it comes to cooking sauces and accompaniments,” said brand director for cooking sauces and accompaniments Andrey Sokirkin.

“Through products such as reduced fat curry sauce and 30% less sugar stir-fry sauces, our brands are offering shoppers healthier alternatives of meals they love.”

The move comes on the back of a stellar year for Sharwood’s thanks to locked-down Brits’ taste for home cooking: the brand grew its value sales by 36.5% to £87.3m in 2020 [Nielsen IQ 52 w/e 26 December 2020].
