Princes Fruit Pots

The range would ‘meet demand for convenient, healthy, single-serve snacks’, helping consumers reach their 5 a day, Princes said

Princes Fruit is moving into on-the-go with a range of fully recyclable plastic-free fruit pots.

The brand said the pots, which are made from aluminium with “easy peel” aluminium lids and cardboard sleeves, were a UK first.

Princes Fruit Pots will roll out in Juicy Peaches, Sweet Pineapple Chunks, Tropical Fruit Salad and Peach & Pear. Each will be available in a twin pack (rsp £1.35/2x120g).

Princes food commercial director Dean Towey said the NPD offered “a truly unique single-serve can of fruit which doesn’t exist anywhere else in the category”.

“With kids getting back to school, and workers going back to the office, these healthier, convenient, mess-free snacks and lunchbox treats launch at the perfect time.”

The flavours align with its existing range of canned fruit and would “meet demand for convenient, healthy, single-serve snacks”, helping consumers reach their 5 a day, Princes said.

The peel-back lid would allow for “ease of use and mess-free snacking” on the go, it added.

The launch will be backed by a push across social media and “comprehensive influencer partnership with a number of foodie talent profiles”, said Princes.

It comes amid Princes’ commitment to roll out plastic-free packaging across its tuna multipacks by 2022.

As reported by The Grocer, the target for the move - which it said will save 96 tonnes of plastic each year - is 2021.

However, Princes said it may take until March next year to transition its old plastic sleeves out of stores completely.
