Tropicana said it was ‘always looking at potential range extensions’

Tropicana looks set to launch a new ‘Lean’ version of its juice.

The juice giant has applied to register ‘Tropicana Lean’ with the Intellectual Property Office under class 32, for juices.

A Tropicana spokeswoman told The Grocer the brand was “always looking into the potential expansion of the range to continue to cater to consumers’ changing habits, but we are not in a position to share anything just yet”.

It comes as Tropicana has splashed out on NPD in 2019, launching a range of high-fibre Whole Fruit drinks designed to help Brits reach their recommended intake of five portions of fruit and veg, and a new Immune Support variant for its health-centric Essentials range.

The juices & smoothies category has taken a serious knock over past years as Brits shunned sugary drinks: total category sales fell £90m (5%) last year, to £1.700.9m [Nielsen 52 w/e 7 September 2019].
