2 Sisters Food Group owner Boparan Holdings has appointed food industry veteran Kate Stein to the newly created role of group quality, sustainability and agriculture director.

Boasting a 30-year career in the sector, Stein joins the food giant having most recently worked as a consultant, and before that spent four years as Sainsbury’s director of technical & agriculture, between 2020 and 2024.

Prior to her work at the retailer, Stein spent time in senior technical roles at Pret a Manger and at M&S – where, during a 21-year stint, she held head of technology positions across fresh, convenience and most recently in the retailer’s Food Technical Centre in 2019.

In her new role, she will report directly to president Ranjit Singh Boparan and take on responsibility for agriculture, technical, food safety, health & safety and food systems & sustainability across both Boparan Holdings and the Boparan Private Office.

“Kate has decades of experience in the food industry,” said Singh.

“She has worked for some of the country’s finest food retailers so understands the challenges and opportunities ahead as we set out to transform the food system, making it better for people and the planet,” he added.

“Hiring Kate reinforces our commitment to feeding the nation with nutritious, high-quality, sustainably produced food, and I’m delighted to welcome her to our business.”
