Expert's verdict... 8/10 ?Sambuca has had a meteoric rise in popularity and there is a concerted effort by suppliers to make Sambuca more mainstream. Antica Sambuca is produced in the foothills of the Dolomite Mountains. Sambuca's most recognisable ingredient is the vapour of Star Anise's essential oils, which provide the distinctive aniseed tones to both the nose and the palate. The raspberry flavour and the distinctive salmon pink colouring of this example are provided by raspberry pressé. The packaging is well put together with clear script. Henry Moran, trading manager, Musgrave Retail Partners GB Consumer's verdict...6/10 ?The raspberry colour of the sambuca drew my attention to the bottle first. The neckline of the bottle shape is different to other liqueurs on sale. With the diamond shaped label and with the silver outline I feel they are trying to aim this at females in their 20s. I tried it on its own. It was richly flavoured and also worked well in the suggested serve with lemonade. I was not expecting it to taste so rich, though I was expecting it to be sweet due to the colour. I wouldn't buy this product for myself but if I was attending a party I would purchase this as someone usually suggests sambuca shots.
