Air Up sells starter sets – comprising a bottle and three pods – from £29.99

Refillable water bottle brand Air Up has launched a trio of milkshake-inspired pods.

Air Up’s Shaky Shakes pods in Banana Shake, Blueberry Shake, and Strawberry Shake have launched via DTC (rsp: £6.99/three pods).

The pods offered “milkshake-inspired flavour without sugar, sweeteners, or calories”, said Air Up.

It comes after the UK government confirmed it would extend the scope of the Soft Drinks Industry Levy (SDIL) from January 2028 to include milk-based drinks with added sugar.

Amid “growing pressure on high-sugar drinks including pre-packaged milkshakes”, the NPD offered “a timely alternative for parents”, Air Up said.

Air Up made its UK supermarket bow earlier this year, rolling into 519 Sainsbury’s stores.

The German startup claims to be able to ape the taste of flavoured water through scent alone.

Users inhale scent through specially designed pods as they sip, allowing their brains to “perceive a flavoured drink experience with plain water” via the process of retronasal olfaction, according to the brand.

As well as its Shaky Shakes range, Air Up also offers pods that mimic popular soft drink flavours including Kola, Lemon Lime Soda and Iced Tea Peach.

It sells starter sets – comprising a bottle and three pods – from £29.99.
