Aldi is investing £370m in opening stores across the UK this year, including new developments in Hastings in East Sussex and Amersham in Buckinghamshire.
It is part of £1.6bn two-year investment programme announced by Aldi in September last year, as it works toward its goal of eventually having 1,500 UK stores, up from about 1,080 currently. The discounter also invested £650m in UK expansion throughout 2025.
It added about 40 new stores to its estate in 2025 and is aiming for a similar number in 2026.
“Our unwavering commitment is to make high-quality, affordable groceries accessible to everybody,” said Aldi UK & Ireland CEO Giles Hurley.
“But we recognise that there are still areas without an Aldi store, so our expansion plans for 2026 are designed to address some of these gaps as we work towards our long-term goal of 1,500 UK stores.
“We’ve always believed that access to high-quality affordable food is a right, not a privilege, and that’s why it’s our mission to make this a reality for customers up and down the UK.”
