Flydrate, a new-to-market hydration drink created specifically for air travel, has launched in 75 WH Smith Travel stores.
It is a lightly carbonated lemon and ginger electrolyte drink with potassium, magnesium and pink Himalayan salt to aid hydration. It also contains a blend of vitamins C, D3 and B5, zinc and taurine to target fatigue and support immunity.
Flydrate seeks to tackle low-humidity conditions encountered during commercial flights, where relative humidity can drop as low as 10%-12% at cruising altitude. This was less than the average humidity of 25% encountered in the Sahara Desert, Flydrate said.
The NPD has landed at Heathrow, Gatwick, Manchester, Stansted, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Birmingham, Bristol and London City airports, as well as Aberdeen, Belfast, Cardiff, Liverpool, Luton and Newcastle (rsp: £3.80/250ml).
Flydrate hopes the listing with WH Smith Travel will help it to take advantage of growing use of UK airports by travellers. UK airports handled a record 302 million passenger journeys in 2025, up from 295 million in 2024, according to the Civil Aviation Authority.
“Every airport sells coffee and water. Nobody has made a drink for what flying actually does to the body,” said Laurence Nair-Price, founder of Flydrate. “Launching across 75 WH Smith stores puts Flydrate in front of travellers exactly where they need it, at the gate.”
Daniel Gill, WH Smith Travel buyer for water, juice and wellness, added: “We are very excited to be launching Flydrate into our airport stores. It is the perfect drink for an air travel retail environment, and we hope it performs well.”
