B&M has struck a 10-year deal with global logistics tech firm Iron Mountain to boost its warehouse capabilities.

The variety discounter is relocating operations from a 470,000 sq ft distribution centre in Middlewich, Cheshire, to a 400,000 sq ft facility managed by Iron Mountain at Symmetry Park in Rugby.

Iron Mountain will handle picking at the ‘state of the art’ Rugby facility, with operations expected to start early next year, the two companies announced today.

The planned relocation of the Middlewich DC was previously disclosed in a B&M trading update in July, ahead of the lease expiring in August 2026. B&M is said to be transferring some workers from the Middlewich site to either another of its facilities or to the Rugby DC under TUPE regulations.

“This is a very exciting opportunity for both companies,” said B&M head of warehouse and transport Sharon Hammond.

“Iron Mountain is providing an impressive, modern facility with the ability to meet demand and deliver capacity for B&M’s growing UK store network over the forthcoming years.”

Maria Torrent March, Iron Mountain MD of warehousing and logistics for Europe, said: “We are focused on building more agile warehousing and logistics services to support customers as they navigate today’s ever-changing supply chain environment.

“We are proud of the trust and confidence B&M has placed in us with this new 10-year agreement.

“This partnership directly addresses B&M’s capacity needs, and we are committed to delivering a seamless integration into their network. We look forward to supporting B&M’s growth for years to come.”
