Christmas dinner wars 2025 have kicked off, with Lidl laying down the gauntlet to rivals with an £11.85 feast for eight.
Equating to less than £1.50 per person, it includes a Birchwood Whole Turkey priced at £9 for a 3.5kg bird (£2.95 per kilo).
Lidl has gone in low with festive veg prices, at 8p each. The meal includes sprouts (500g), carrots (1kg) and potatoes (2kg), all at 8p each, plus 1kg of parsnips for 16p (8p per 500g).

The meal is completed with 15 Yorkshire puddings for 46p, 300g of Newgate gravy for £1.09, and two packs of Newgate stuffing at 45p per pack.
Lidl is also offering echalion shallots (300g) and individual swedes at 8p each, though these would take the meal above £11.85.
Lidl said promotional prices did not affect payments to farmers, with whom it worked on long-term agreements.
Asda, Aldi and Lidl all ended up offering Christmas veg lines for 8p last year, but only after a day of fierce under-cutting which brought prices down from 15p.
The 2024 price battle drew criticism from the farming sector, despite assurances from retailers that payments to farmers were unaffected. “The concern among some growers is that it sets an unrealistic expectation in the minds of consumers as to what it costs to produce this stuff,” British Growers Association CEO Jack Ward told The Grocer at the time.
Lidl’s 2025 Christmas dinner prices are due to land in stores on 19 December.
