The Irish business said it had almost doubled its sales in the UK over the past five years

Irish meat brand Clonakilty Food Co has expanded its presence in UK retail with two new listings in Ocado.

The County Cork-based supplier has launched a Blackpudding six-pack sausage line (rsp: £3.80/370g) and a Dry Cure Back Bacon six-pack (rsp: £3.30/200g) at the online retailer, available to shoppers across the UK.

The sausages, using the brand’s 100-year-old secret black pudding recipe, resulted in a “delicious sausage full of flavour, a great addition to a cooked breakfast or served for dinner with mash and gravy”, Clonakilty said.

Its dry Cure Rashers, meanwhile, are made with 100% premium Irish pork and cured slowly. Just like all of Clonakilty’s products, they were “made using traditional methods without the use of sugar and ascorbates”, it added.

The Ocado listing builds on increased growth in the UK in recent years, driven by the company’s Blackpudding, Whitepudding and Clonakilty Sausages.

With its products available in Sainsbury’s, Asda, selected Budgens, Nisa Local and Londis stores, alongside independent butchers, Ocado and online retailer Your Irish Food, the brand said it had almost doubled its sales in the UK over the past five years.

“We are so thrilled to be able to offer two more Clonakilty products to Ocado shoppers,” said Colette Twomey, owner of Clonakilty Food Co.

“Having seen how much they enjoy our Whitepudding, Blackpudding and Sausages we know they will love our Blackpudding Sausages and Rashers just as much. As a family-run Irish business it is such a joy to know our products are now being enjoyed by families across the UK too.”
