Co-op Wholesale will supply a range of food and drink to 31 WHSmith stores at Roadchef service stations from next month

Co-op Wholesale has entered into new stage of its multi-year partnership with Roadchef to supply WH Smith stores at motorway service areas across the UK.

It will see Co-op Wholesale supply a range of ambient, chilled and frozen food and drink, including a mix of branded and Co-op own label, to 31 WH Smith stores at Roadchef service stations from next month.

“This marks an exciting next step in our partnership with Roadchef where we’re on a fantastic start and accelerating momentum,” said Co-op Wholesale director of business development and growth Ian King.

“This is a reflection on the strength of our proposition, and flexibility of the model to ensure we’re bringing growth for our partners in a way that suits them and their business.”

Roadchef retail, procurement and supply chain director Kevin Whitehouse said: “At Roadchef, we’re continuously working to enhance the customer experience across our service areas.

“Extending our partnership with Co-op Wholesale into WH Smith stores is part of our ongoing commitment to ensuring we remain a top choice for motorists seeking convenience, variety, and quality on their journeys.”

The motorway service operator announced in April that it had switched its grocery supply deal from Spar to Co-op Wholesale, the newly rebranded wholesale division of Nisa. It had been working with Spar since 2015.

The pair opened the first of eight new convenience stores on 5 June at Roadchef Norton Canes under Co-op Wholesale’s new ‘& Co-op’ fascia identity, and featured an extensive range of Co-op own-brand lines, including food-to-go, pizzas and ready meals.
