Codorniu low abv wines

The wines are made using grapes grown in Codorníu’s vineyards in Catalonia

Spain’s oldest wine producer Codorníu has unveiled a new range of 8% abv sparkling and still wines.

The new range – which has launched on Ocado (rsp: £7/75cl) – includes a sparkling blend, as well as a still white, rosé and red.

They are made using grapes grown in Codorníu’s vineyards in Catalonia.

The wines underwent “a delicate partial dealcoholisation process” at low temperatures, said Codorníu.

This process helped “protect the wine’s natural aromas and purity, resulting in lighter wines with authentic flavour and very low residual sugars”, it added.

Codorníu Sparkling 8% is made from chardonnay, xarel·lo, and macabeo grapes. It combined “traditional and modern winemaking techniques to create a refreshing sparkling drink”, said Codorníu.

Still Low Rosé had “delicate aromas of stone fruit with subtle hints of red berries in the background”. Still Low White, meanwhile, combined “yellow and white fruit aromas, ending with a hint of floral perfume”.

Rounding out the range, Still Low Red was “bright cherry red with subtle aromas of red and black fruits and a background of aromatic Mediterranean herbs”.

Codorníu has also added three new zero alcohol wines. Zero Still White, Rosé and Red have joined the supplier’s lineup, which already includes a zero-alcohol sparkling wine.

UK listings for the new booze-free SKUs would follow later this year, said Codorníu.
