Steven Marshall built his career at Dunbia

Meat wholesaler DB Foods has appointed Steven Marshall as its new commercial manager, marking “the first of a variety of new roles” set to join the company.

Marshall built his career at Dunbia, where he spent 14 years shaping retail partnerships with customers including Fresh Cook, Samworth Brothers, 2 Sisters, Oscar Mayer and Caledonian Foods.

He then led Dunbia’s supply into Sainsbury’s as commercial manager, before driving long-term strategic growth with Lidl as commercial manager.

In 2022, Marshall left Dunbia to join family-run business Butlers Farmhouse Cheeses as head of operations.

Speaking of his new role, Marshall said: “DB Foods is a business I’ve admired for years. When I spoke to the Paramount Retail Group, their vision was clear: invest, expand, modernise and push for market leadership. It was exactly the kind of journey I wanted to join.”

DB Foods CEO Paul Taylor added: “To have someone of Steven’s experience to build on DB Foods’ commercial success is very exciting. With his insight and knowledge, we will be expanding ranges, fulfilling the needs of new and existing retail partners, and ensuring the best possible use of the 15,000 sq ft production and processing unit that was opened at the start of the year.

“Steven is the first of a variety of new roles that will support the fruition of our multimillion-pound investment in the firm, its resources and staff.”

In August, family investment firm Paramount Retail Group acquired DB Foods, saving more than 200 jobs.

Turning over £122m annually, DB Foods’ purchase took Paramount to around £230m in revenues, beating its goal of hitting £200m of sales by the end of 2025.
