Scottish distiller Eden Mill has won a listing for its Golf Gin in 202 Waitrose stores.
The listing is the supplier’s first-ever nationwide listing with a major multiple. Waitrose has a three-month exclusivity agreement to stock the tipple.
A London dry-style gin that pays homage to St Andrews’ golfing heritage, Golf Gin (rsp: £29/70cl) contains native botanicals including lavender foraged from the town’s famous Old Course.
It is distilled at Eden Mill’s distillery just eight miles from the course. The production facility began operating earlier this year and is powered by 100% renewable energy.
“St Andrews is the beating heart of our brand and it’s the historical home of golf, so we’ve always wanted to authentically tie our Golf Gin product to the town,” said Eden Mill CEO Rennie Donaldson. “Foraging botanicals from the world famous Old Course has allowed us to do just that.
“A UK-wide listing at Waitrose is the perfect launchpad for the gin. Golf participation has been increasing consistently since 2020 and is showing no signs of letting off, so we’re delighted to have developed the perfect pour to toast to this growing segment.”
Waitrose spirits buyer John Vine added: “We have an avid audience of gin enthusiasts who shop with us and take the time to discover new brands with interesting stories. Eden Mill’s Golf Gin fits this bill to a tee – crafted with botanicals foraged from the Old Course St Andrews and distilled in their brand-new, sustainable distillery. We are sure this will pique the curiosity of our shoppers.”
Eden Mill was founded in 2012 by Tony Kelly and Paul Miller. In 2022, the supplier was bought by private equity firm Inverleith LLP.
