The six-time Grammy Award winner said the wine was designed to be ‘shared by all’

British singer-songwriter Elton John has launched an alcohol-free sparkling wine in the UK.

Called Elton John Zero Blanc de Blancs, the 0% abv tipple has landed in Sainsbury’s stores nationwide (rsp: £10/70cl).

The wine – made from chardonnay grapes grown in northern Italy – offered “notes of apple, citrus blossom, and honeysuckle with a refined mineral finish”, according to the brand.

It underwent a “controlled fermentation using select bacteria instead of yeast” to ape “the structure and aroma of a classic blanc de blancs while remaining completely alcohol-free”.

The six-time Grammy Award-winning musician – who is teetotal – said: “Elton John Zero was born from a simple yet exquisite idea: to create a world where every moment of celebration can be shared by all.

“Our 0% alcohol blanc de blancs captures the elegance, effervescence, and joy of a traditional blanc de blancs, without compromise.

“Crafted with care and intention, it embodies the art of inclusion – inviting everyone to raise a glass, savour the sparkle, and share in the timeless celebration of togetherness.”

Benchmark Drinks will handle sales and distribution for Elton John Zero in the UK.

The supplier – led by former Accolade Wines boss Paul Schaafsma – has developed a reputation for successful celebrity wine tie-ups, having helped the likes of Gary Barlow and Graham Norton launch their own wine ranges.

Benchmark’s biggest success, however, has been in turning Kylie Minogue Wines into a household name.

Last year, the brand – which is sold in over 36 countries worldwide – climbed 10 places in The Grocer’s Britain’s Biggest Alcohol Brands Report, after off-trade sales surged by 21.2% to £36.6m [NIQ 52 w/e 19 April 2025].
