German Doner Kebab has appointed Chris Waters as its new chief marketing officer.

Waters, who will begin the role on 1 September, joins the fast-casual kebab brand from JD Sports, where he was brand marketing director for the UK and Europe for the past two-and-a-half years.

He brings over 20 years of experience across fmcg and fashion retail to the role. Waters previously spent more than seven years at Asda in a variety of management positions, before a five-year run at Morrisons where he became head of in-store marketing.

Announcing his appointment on LinkedIn, Waters said: “With over 145 restaurants, plus a growing global portfolio, this feels like a great time for me to be joining the business.

“I am looking forward to meeting my team next week, along with the wider GDK network.”

It follows the appointment of Tommy Edmond as chief financial officer and Amit Pancholi as franchise development director last October.

They were tasked with supporting the brand’s growth in both the UK and international markets, as German Doner Kebab expands to almost 150 UK sites.
