The new café will be open every day from 7am to 10pm

Coffee brand Grind is set to launch its first UK standalone travel café at Waterloo Station, The Grocer can reveal.

The café, opening on 15 December, will be located on the mezzanine level, opposite platform five in Waterloo Station. It will be open every day from 7am to 10pm and will seat 35 people.

Opened in partnership with One Retail, the retail specialist sector of Compass Group UK & Ireland, the new site expands Grind’s footprint in travel retail beyond its partnerships with British Airways and Dubai International Airport.

It also adds to the 15 cafés, restaurants and cocktail bars, and coffee trucks that Grind currently operates across the UK.

The new site will offer barista-quality coffee, cocktails and food, and to celebrate the opening and the arrival of the festive season, Grind will be offering £5 espresso martinis – the brand’s signature cocktail – throughout December.

“Bringing Grind to one of the UK’s busiest stations marks a major milestone for us – we can’t wait to bring our craft coffee to thousands of commuters at Waterloo,” said Grind founder and CEO David Abrahamovitch.

“We’re offering travellers a completely new experience: a place where they can grab a great coffee on the go, sit down for brunch, or unwind with cocktails after a long day. It’s our first in a station, and we’re thrilled to make it happen with One Retail.”

Alongside its physical stores, Grind also operates a grocery arm with products available in retailers including Waitrose, Tesco and Ocado.

Last month, Grind expanded its retail offering into alcohol with the launch of a ready-to-drink espresso martini.

The 14.9% abv Grind Espresso Martini has landed in Waitrose and WH Smith stores, as well as launching via DTC (rsp: £16/4x125ml).
