Hilton is Britain’s second top-selling honey brand

Hilltop Honey has opened a “multimillion-pound” factory in Newtown, Powys, allowing it to increase its manufacturing footprint.

The “state-of-the-art” facility gives Hilltop new capabilities to manufacture sweet pie fillings, meat accompaniment, sauces, condiments and peanut butter – in addition to honey, sweeteners and maple syrup.

This enhanced infrastructure will allow the business to serve as a “one-stop partner” for brands aiming to streamline production and distribution operations, according to Hilltop.

As such, Hilltop has launched Hilltop Food Group – an umbrella expansion, which now houses the UK honey brand and its US counterpart, Scott’s, plus its manufacturing business.

“With a strong track record in own label production, under the Hilltop Food Group, we look forward to creating new partnerships and driving growth through enhanced collaboration with food businesses,” said Hilltop founder Scott Davies.

Hilltop is Britain’s second bestselling honey brand, behind Rowse.

Last summer, it secured a banking package worth £10m from Santander UK to support its global expansion plans.

At the time, Hilltop said it was eyeing new markets in the US, Middle East and Australia.

In March, Hilltop added a quintet of trendy spreads to recruit a “younger generation of honey lovers”.

Called Hilltoppers, the range comprises: Sweet & Salty, Cocoa Honey, Chai Spiced, Whipped, and Pink (coloured with carrot concentrate and sweet potato concentrate).

This month, it launched a duo of hot honey condiments (rsp: £2.75/350g) – Smoky Chipotle and Peri-Peri – into Tesco.
